Victoria Orange Shirt Day

Behind the Shirt
– Phyllis Webstad

Phyllis Webstad (centre) and Victoria Orange Shirt Day organizers Eddy Charlie and Kristin Spray are passionate about sharing their knowledge of Residential Schools and what that means for them today.

Phyllis never understood why her beloved orange shirt was taken away when she went into the Mission Residential School. Since then, the colour orange has been associated with feelings of worthlessness and insignificance. Today she stands proud and shares her story so others can understand the history and significance of Residential Schools and allow other survivors to have a voice.
