We will be set up across Greater Victoria where you can pick up our Bear Horne designed orange shirts and other products. Stop by for a conversation and learn more about the legacy of residential schools. We will be around to provide educational resources and answer questions.

Orange Shirt Day is held every September 30th to honour Residential School survivors and their families, and to remember those that never made it.

@xexesmuneem Hi all. I have not been on Instagram for a few weeks because I was in the hospital fighting for my life. I never realized how close that was.

I wish to give some huge thank yous to Kristin Spray and Jackie Wong for making the call to bring in first responders, I wish to thank my family, including all my siblings, Vivian, Holly, Niomi, Norman, Albie and Loren, my father, my Aunty Lillian, my cousin Joanne, cousin Bev, and my son Joe, his wife Tamara & grandson EJ.

I also wish to say thank you to all the volunteers who came in and sat with me. Huychq'u Chivonne Graff, Saza Rose and Freddy, Jackie and Luke, Chesa and Eric Slade, Tchadas Leo, Sara Weeks, May Sam, Nicole Mandryk, Jason Jones, Katie Manomie, @krista.loughton and Kevin Griffin.

Two of the biggest thanks go out to Kristin Spray and Chesa Abma slade. Your fight for me gave me strength that I didn't have. You fed me hope.

I am at home now, but I need time to recover. Thank you, everyone, for being a part of this strong healing circle.

Hate and racism are just two ways: personal pain and societal gain. Hate and racism is how North America grew strong. By hating and belittling the small guy, the ones doing the hurting benefitted, and unfortunately, the Indigenous peoples experienced a lot of that hate.

A call to action should be to put an end to online hate. It is making it terrifying for some elders to walk outside of their community. They lose that chance to walk and see the community experience local restaurants and dine with friends.

How did we end up here? Has the residential school made a continuation of unfair treatment of Indigenous people? I see our nation still facing a lack of justice, and I see "our hate" as a form of bad medicine.

Hate erodes judgment and makes you choose bad choices. An eleder in my community said, "No one was meant to carry hate, and no one was hated because of the color of their skin. It is taught, but if hate can be learned, it can be unlearned."

I won't kid you. My emotions are messy right now.

I won't kid you. My emotions are messy right now. I can't stop crying. Kristin and I did a lot creating awareness about residential school. After we raised the Sacred Children flag, it should have felt like a sense of accomplishment.

For 10 years, we have been doing this work.
It felt like the community was mocking us by allowing hateful videos talking about our flag and shirt in the hall of honor.
Reading the hateful comments about survivors and their history really broke me. I have been emontional since Oct 1st. I began to feel defeated since sept25.

Politicians were elected to create fair, unbiased leadership. Instead, they are influencing racism.

When can we expect to be treated fairly?
