Victoria Orange Shirt Day Flag at Half-Mast at Victoria City Hall

Honouring the children found at the former Kamloops Residential School

Raising the Xe Xe Smun’ Eem – Victoria Orange Shirt Day Flag in honour of 215 innocent children that died at the former Kamloops Residential School and whose bodies were recently found in an unmarked grave.

Residential school survivor Eddy Charlie and friend Kristin Spray were joined by Mayor Lisa Helps, Councillor Alto and Councillor Thornton-Joe to lower the Xe Xe Smun’ Eem – Victoria Orange Shirt Day flag at Victoria City Hall.

The Orange Shirt Day flag, along with the Canada flag, will remain lowered until June 8 for a total of 215 hours, one hour for each child who died.
